About TechCadets
TechCadets teaches AI, coding and computer science to students in grades 5 to 12, live and online, in groups small enough that an instructor knows every student's work.
Why this exists
Computing is taught unevenly in Pakistani schools. Some students get a real teacher and a lab; many get a textbook, a whiteboard and a theory paper, and reach grade 12 having written very little code. It is not usually the school's fault — a teacher who can build software has options that pay considerably better than teaching does.
The result is a large number of capable, interested students who have never been shown how to actually make something. TechCadets is a straightforward attempt to close that specific gap: live teaching, small groups, real tools, and work that gets finished.
What the name means
A cadet college is a familiar thing in Pakistan: structure, sequence, and progress that has to be earned rather than assumed. We took the part of that which is genuinely useful for learning — a ladder a student climbs, with each stage building on the one before — and left the rest of it alone.
There is no uniform, no drilling, and no shouting. What there is, is a clear order to things, and the expectation that a student finishes what they started.
It is also the shortest way we have found to say what the whole thing is for: Raise a Builder, not a User. Your child already knows how to use software. This is about being on the other side of it.
How we teach
Students build in the session rather than watching. A typical class is a short demonstration followed by build time, with the instructor moving between students' screens and a few minutes at the end for somebody to show what they made.
Concepts arrive when something needs them. A student learns about variables because their game needs a score, and about time complexity because their own search is slow on ten thousand rows. Theory taught ahead of a reason to care about it tends not to stay.
We use the real tools — a proper editor, a terminal, Git, GitHub — from early in the senior track. The gap between a teaching tool and the real one is where a lot of self-taught students stall, and there is no good reason for a fifteen-year-old to be on the wrong side of it.
Where we stand on AI
AI is a large part of what we teach, and it is the subject parents ask about first. Junior Tech Cadets has an eight-week course on using these tools carefully — including a week spent deliberately catching a model inventing facts, dates and sources, which changes how a thirteen-year-old treats them more than any warning from an adult does. Senior Tech Cadets has a ten-week engineering course: calling a model API from Python, forcing structured output, embeddings and retrieval, and evaluating a system against a test set rather than trusting a demo.
What we will not do is claim more than that. Nobody at school age is training a model from scratch; it needs mathematics well past school level and hardware that costs more than a house. We also will not tell you that AI has made programming pointless, or that it has made learning to program urgent. Both are sales pitches.
The narrower claim we are willing to make is this. These tools do not tell you when they are wrong. A student who can build reads the output, sees that it is subtly incorrect, and fixes it. A student who cannot gets code they are unable to check. That is the gap the whole programme is aimed at, and it is the same gap the name is about: Raise a Builder, not a User.
What we will not do
We will not claim outcomes we cannot support. No salary figures, no university admissions claims, no promises about your child's future employability. Those claims are common in this market and they are not honest ones.
We will not put a subject on this site because it is fashionable. Every claim about what we teach is attached to a numbered week in a published syllabus, and if you cannot find the week, we have not made the claim.
We will not put a testimonial, a student count or a partner logo on this site until it is real, attributable and permitted by the person it came from. This site currently has none, and that is the reason.
We will not tell you your child is doing well when they are not. The four-weekly progress update says what is actually happening, including when the honest answer is that a student is in the wrong course.
